Community Development Officer
Jamie Dent was appointed as DECBG’s Community Development Officer in January 2022, as a result of feedback from the community consultation and Regional Community Plan produced in 2019.
Jamie’s role is to support community groups to develop projects in the Ewe Hill 16 area. He can help with accessing funding from Ewe Hill and Solwaybank Windfarms, as well as assisting in sourcing funding from other sources. He also advises on project design and implementation and linking projects with others in the region. Jamie will be running workshops across the region to generate project ideas. Jamie has many years’ experience working with rural communities in Dumfries and Galloway to bring about community led affordable housing solutions. Previous to that he worked as an urban planner for Moray Council and Dumfries and Galloway Council. Jamie holds a BA (Hons) in Developmental Psychology from the University of Sussex, a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Herriot-Watt University and an MSc from the Centre for Alternative Technology in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment.
